Hobby Hens
Our hens are one of the most precious parts of our farm life here in Galicia. They are free-range hens and lay rainbow-coloured eggs. Unfortunately, I have found buying hens and adding them to our brood slightly difficult to manage. We now have a limit of 28 hens on the farm which includes ducks. We know them all by name and personality.
In fact, I spend a lot of time drawing and creating illustrations that capture all the personalities and charm they bring to the farm.

Our Challenges with the current farm industry!
We love to share our hobby hen farm life with everyone and we don't understand why everyone who can, does not have hens! They make us smile everyday and provide amazing eggs. I could never enjoy a shop bought egg again.
Did you know, most large egg farms, who claim to be Ecological, are not? They use this title to win the consumer over with the illusion that their hens are living a quality life, with access to outdoor areas. But they aren't. Once they gain the license, they keep the hens inside, under the excuse it is to maintain Biosecurity. They own large parcels of land that the hens never access.
How do I know this? Well, there is one 500 meters from our farm and it owns land within 500 meters from our farm, so we can not sell our delicious, healthy, happy hen-eggs to the public. We can not get a small license to sell our eggs, but we will continue to try. We have to. Seeing children choose coloured, healthy-laid eggs is precious and it needs to continue.
So, despite this set back, we continue to share our hobby-hens with everyone and we can help you start your own hobby-hen farm life! It is important we stop supporting these industrial, robotic companies that treat animals and livestock like machines!
