LOCAL SCHOOL VISITS
Share
In January and April we were delighted to visit local schools in the city of Lugo. We took lots of goodies and pictures from the farm, sang songs and shared stories about our farm work, projects and the importance of small farmers!
Why is community work so important to us?
Many children today associate food with supermarket chains and large industrial farms where there is no connection to the value of food, the process, the commitment and the impact of farming on our environment.
We don't like to get all heavy and boring about it. We love to share our projects and feed curiosity in young minds. We love to see children engage with the idea of growing vegetables, flowers, supporting wildlife environments and farming in a sustainable way. Luckily in many parts of Galicia this is still a very common reality among children's grandparents, so we want to show young people it does not end there. Life in the wild is possible and we need to embrace sustainable farming and the potential for small plots of land to give back to communities in different ways.
We speak Native English, so children benefit from hearing the english language and having fun practicing their words with us.
